In Malaysia there are many Street Arts that are also comparable to those that hubby and I visited overseas.

Besides the most popular street arts that have become favorite tourist attractions, such as those in Penang, there are others which are as good. Over the years we visited some and we ignored some. And recently, because of the CMCO where cross-states travel is not allowed, we are limited to visit those street arts in Selangor and Klang Valley. Last week we visited Safari Jejak Warisan around Little India in Klang and Sasaran Art Park in Jeram Kuala Selangor.

This weekend we managed to have a relaxing stroll, admiring street arts at Laman Seni 2 in Shah Alam and Mural Jalan Kenari in Puchong. Most of these impressive street arts are the idea and creation of local artists depicting local scenes and each array of colour and character tells a story.

Street art should not be confused with graffiti art.

Most people may consider street art and graffiti as two similar forms of art. There is an element of truth in making this assumption. To me, they are both forms of creative artistic expression. Street art is usually painted with permission or commissioned. Graffiti is word-based and its 'writers' are mostly self-taught. One legal and the other illegal.

Before the Covid 19 pandemic, we used to travel the world and discovered a few interesting street arts in the cities we visited. These street arts are artistic works contributing to a vibrant urban environment. They turn dark gloomy back alleys into tourist attractions.

Pantai Remis Kuala Selangor...

After visiting Sasaran Art Park, we drove to Pantai Remis about 10 km away. Pantai Remis is one of the eco-tourism locations that is quite popular with the locals.

It was burning hot when we arrived at the beach. Because of sea erosion, the beach was protected with rock walls. Only some stretches are spared for visitors to enjoy a walk along the sandy beach while enjoying the beauty of nature. We saw some children having fun at the edge of the water looking for seashells. Others were playing kites in the sun.

Pantai Remis is also a beautiful location to watch the sunset.

My appointment with KWSP was at 2.50 pm but as usual, I arrived early. I settled my thumb print registration earlier than expected. We were free the rest of the afternoon and decided to drive towards Kuala Selangor using the Sungai Buluh – Kuala Selangor old trunk road.

Our plan was to visit Balai Seni Sasaran located in a small fishing village in Jeram. It is one of the tourist attractions in Kuala Selangor especially for art lovers. The upper floor of the art gallery is used as an exhibition space and the lower floor is the activity centre.

The art gallery is used as the venue for local or international art festivals or exhibitions in the promotion of arts and culture. The Art Gallery was launched in May 2016. Since 2008, the Sasaran Art Organization has organized large-scaled art festivals every 3 years to create exposure towards street arts.

There are various unique sculptures in the compound and mural paintings on the outdoor walls. We were informed that there will be new murals to be unveiled in mid-April 2021. As the Art Gallery was closed when we arrived, we spent some time admiring and taking pictures of the sculptures and wall paintings around the Art Gallery.

While we were there, we met with the care-taker of the Art Park and were informed that an art exhibition will be held here in April and there will be unveiling of some new mural arts, one of which has been the talk of the town recently.
