"That"s how we know we care about things... when we're scared to lose them..." The Shawshank Redemption
That morning when our plane landed in KLIA, my hand-phone was receiving non-stop sms from friends and families informing of happenings during my absence. Some news were good and enlightening but most were not-so-good hospital stories.
Sad story – Fariz’s mother who was hospitalized at Hospital Sultanah Aminah for colon cancer passed away in her sleep. Only last week he told me that they were contemplating of bringing her home…
Gruesome story - Che Din’s son was involved in an accident where his hand was severed at the elbow. He was lucky that a passer-by was able to save his hand in time so that doctors were able to reattach it. Surgeons at Hospital Selayang say they are confident the hand will recover, although he will never have a full strength of his grip…
Angry story – My niece, Lyana was hospitalized at Hospital Besar Melaka for acute stomach pain. It took the Doctors a week to diagnose the cause of the pain. After a series of tests, variety of medications and three puncture holes in the stomach, then only they removed her appendix…
Funny story - Hj Rani was hospitalized at Hospital Tawakkal and had an operation to cure the inflammation of his tonsil and larynx. He was on MC for two weeks. When he came back to office, his voice was reduced to a whisper. Meanwhile, we are resorting to sign language to communicate…
Cat story - Bee and her youngest son, Amir got clawed and bitten when they tried to separate two fighting cats. B was given out patient treatment whereas Amir got to be hospitalized because of fever and infection. The doctor did a minor operation to remove pus from his swollen hand. When we came to visit Amir at Hospital Universiti, he was still having fever and Doctors are yet to identify the strains of bacteria to administer the correct antibiotics. They said that a cat’s bite is worst than a dog’s…
