About Me

My photo
I am married to my loving husband for more than 40 years now. I am a mother to 3 beautiful children, until years ago when I lost my youngest son. Since then my life is forever altered but yet unbroken....

Pahang - Indulgence in the clouds...

“Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's needs, but not every man's greed...” - Mahatma Gandhi

(Tenderloin steak and lamb ribs)

Today we drove the blackfoot for a spin up Genting Highlands.

After spending a couple of days recuperating in the workshop, it was time to test the pickup's power. While we were up on the mountains, we had a late western lunch at Awana Genting. We will be test-driving the blackfoot again over the weekend down south.

And, an opportunity to visit our two grandkids in JB too!

A morning of disappointments...

“Blessed is he who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed...”
- Alexander Pope

(Our ailing blackfoot)

We were at our travel agent office to submit our passports for our Umrah visa.

While we were there we asked about the status of the South America trip and were informed that there were no takers and the trip may need to be cancelled. We have to check our bucket list and need to start looking for another holiday destination.

Half  way home our blackfoot started to experience reduced power. To avoid being stranded in the middle of a traffic jam, we parked our pickup and called the insurance company for a tow-truck service. While waiting, we had fried rice, which was not that tasty, at a nearby stall.

Our pickup is now in the workshop again, waiting for spare parts...

My beloved siblings...

"There is only one happiness in this life, to love and be loved..." - George Sand

(With my elder brothers and younger sisters)

It is very rare that my siblings of six get together for whatever reasons.

Since we were young, two of us, the eldest boy and I, the eldest girl were separated from the rest of my siblings when we went to boarding schools away from home. Later we further our studies, started working and got married. Our relationship was limited to seeing each other during holidays and festivities.

Taking turns caring for our ailing parents for the past five years had put us in more frequent and intense contact with each other.

After our parents passing, we met to discuss the division of whatever properties left to us by our parents. It was by mutual consent that the properties are to be divided in accordance to Faraid.

At times like this, I miss my beloved parents so very much...

Babysitting the rascals...

"A child's laugh could simply be one of the most beautiful sounds in the world..."

(My cheeky grandchildren, Amir and Hana)

There’s nothing like grandkids to keep grandma and grandpa active and joyful!

Iwan and Ella were in London for a holiday. For a week we stayed in Iwan's Mandy Villa house to babysit our two grandkids, Hana and Amir. As there were also public holidays during the week, Hana attended school only for two days and the rest of the week we brought them with us anywhere we went. We had no problem babysitting the both of them as they were well behaved and cheerful all the time. I am missing my other two grandkids in JB and would find time to visit them before our next overseas trip in March.

A recent study shows that spending a moderate amount of time with grandkids may actually prevent Alzheimer’s disease... ha ha...

A Nephew's Solemnization...

"The only thing that will make you happy is being happy with who you are, and not who people think you are..." - Goldie Hawn

(Farhan and Dashenee)

Marriage is caring and sharing
giving and forgiving
loving and being loved
walking hand in hand
talking heart to heart
to give and to take
and to see through each others eyes

Holiday Momento - Magnets from all over the world

"We do not remember days, we remember moments." - Cesare Pavese

Souvenir Magnets from Around the Globe

Over the past 40 years, we have traveled the seven continents and the seven seas...

During our travel very often we'll buy small mementos from the foreign land. Our favorite buy is fridge magnets as they are light and easy to pack. Souvenir fridge magnets are a particularly good way to remind us of our travels. I used to decorate the fridges in our Putramas Apartment and Bidara House with these small, colorful depictions of famous landmarks, map of countries, flags and other things to reminisce the excitement and fun of visiting foreign destinations.

And they served to be the start of many intriguing conversations too...
