I am married to my loving husband for more than 40 years now. I am a mother to 3 beautiful children, until years ago when I lost my youngest son. Since then my life is forever altered but yet unbroken....

Cookies for the Eid...

"Surround yourself with those who bring out the best in you, not the stress in you..."

(Crispy butter cookies)

There is so much to be in a good mood about and grateful for.

On Sunday, Yb Ubai had a meeting in KL and brought the cookies I ordered from her Co-op. That same evening, hubby and I agreed to have iftar with Yb Ubai and her three children before she boarded the bus back to Kota Bharu. As it was convenient for her and her children, we decided to have iftar at our favorite Secret Recipe Restaurant in KL Sentral. Sara and Alia drove separately and joined us later for dinner.

Although all of us are busy, we've reached a point in life where we should enjoy a little time off...

Where Little Fairies Play...

"You know you're on the right track when you become uninterested in looking back..."

So many years have passed...

It has been nearly more than 4 years since I take care of my ailing emak and abah, three days a week. All three of our kebun in Sungai Rambai, Sungai Baru and Pedas have been totally neglected. Last year, after much discussions and contemplation, hubby and I had decided to sell off our kebun in Sungai Baru and donated the proceeds to a Madrasah Tahfiz. It was a good bargain when the buyer was willing to pay double the original price and learning that we are donating the proceeds, he added another RM20k to the selling price as part of his sedekah!

The buyer was also willing to lease our kebun Sungai Rambai and will convert the 3.5 acres of land into a small-scale Oil Palm plantation. We had drawn up an agreement for the lease of 15 years and whatever proceeds from the produce will be divided equally.

While the land is on lease, our tukang kebun will take care of whatever fruit trees left in the kebun. We will still continue to enjoy the durian and dokong fruits from our orchards during fruiting seasons.

So many years have passed me by
I miss the morning dew on the grass
or the chirping of the birds on the tree
and the scampering of little squirrels, so free

So many years have passed me by
I left my childhood in a place so far
where happy memories stay
In the garden where little fairies play...

Kelantan delicacies...

"Best friends are the people in your life that make you laugh louder, smile brighter and live better..."

Having humor in your life is not just a matter of a good time...

It was almost a decade since I met Kak Ning. The last time we met, I was still working in Bank Negara and she was then the Chief Librarian in UIA. Kak Ning was my senior during my two-year stay in the hostel in Kota Bharu and she was also my mentor. And through the whatsapp group we managed to gather some other SIC hostelite seniors and juniors and planned to have a small gathering. After much contemplation of venues for the meet up, Kak Ning volunteered for us to have a nasi kerabu brunch at her new house in Taman Sungai Ramal.

We have not met the other seniors for more than 40 years. They have not changed much. They have almost stayed the same. Often when you have a friendship that has lasted a long time you continue to share memories of humorous interactions that you shared and that morning, we had a lot to catch up and reminisce.

Friends is a divine bond between persons who share happiness, sorrows and all our ups and downs in life. Even dark secrets which cannot be shared with our parents.

A Thousand Reasons to Smile...

"Stop sharing your dreams with people who try to hold you back, even if they’re your parents..."

They fall in love by chance, they stay in love by choice.

Often enough I missed wedding invitations from friends but since the beginning of the year whenever I am in town I would try to attend all invitations. At wedding receptions I met with long lost friends and with those short interlude in between, we made up for lost time and catch up with news of others.

Congratulations to the lovely brides and grooms. My best wishes and prayers for a long and happy life together and blessed with constant joy and ever lasting love.

But remember, love stories is a series about love in all its forms. So be prepared!
