02 Langkawi Trip - The Five Grandchildren...

“The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty..." - Winston Churchill

(The cheeky grandkids at the pool)

Day 02: Monday, 29 May 2023
Route: Kuala Perlis - Langkawi

We had heavy breakfast at the restaurant next door before we checked out of Noor Boutique Hotel. We had ample time to park our car and board the noon ferry. We bought our ferry tickets on-line earlier and avoided the hassle of queuing up at the ticket counters. The ferry ride took about an hour to reach Kuah Ferry. Lunch was at Kenny Roasters before we picked up our rental car and drove to Pantai Chenang.

We arrived at BNM Resort about the same time as Sara and family. The grandkids were overly excited to meet each other!

03 Langkawi Trip - Riding the Sky Cab

"Only madmen and fools are pleased with themselves; no wise man is good enough for his own satisfaction..."

(The view of the middle station and the summit)

Day 03: Tuesday, 30 May 2023
Route: Gunung Machinchang, Langkawi

Today we made a trip to Gunung Machinchang and spent the day visiting the attractions there. The grandkids were overly excited to ride the cable car and walk the Sky Bridge. This was a first time for Hana, Amir and Aira. Alia and Arif were here a few times before.

As the Skycab is one of the major attractions in Langkawi, there was always a large crowd but the queue was fast moving. The gondola ride was from Base Station located at the Oriental Village at the foot of the hill to the peak of Gunung Machinchang, where the Sky Bridge is located. The cable car rides provide a panoramic view of the surrounding forest, the Telaga Tujuh waterfalls, as well as the sea.

There are three stations for the cable car; the Top Station is located at the peak of Gunung Machinchang which is the second-highest peak of Langkawi. Mid-way is a Middle Station where the gondolas make a 45-degree turn to reach the Top Station. The slope between the Base Station and the Middle Station is said to be the one of the steepest in the world at 42°.

There are two circular viewing platforms at the top but we did not manage to explore because of the crowd and it started to drizzle when we descended and the wind was blowing strong. Some were nervous when riding the cable car in the rain, but it was a memorable exciting experience, especially for the grandkids.
