Russia and Finland - Our Next Destinations...

"Life is about breaking our personal limits and outgrowing ourselves to live our best lives..."

Date: 21 - 30 May 2014
(Finland and Russia)

Hubby and I are packing our travelling bags again! Although it is already late Spring the weather is unpredictable around the Baltic Sea and Moscow.

(Moscow, Russia)

Moscow is the capital and largest city of Russia. The city is a major political, economic, cultural and scientific center in Russia and in Eastern Europe. Moscow is the northernmost megacity on Earth, the second most populous city in Europe after Istanbul and the 6th largest city proper in the world. Moscow is situated on the Moskva River in the Central Federal District of European Russia making it the world's most populated inland city. Moscow is the site of the Moscow Kremlin, a medieval city-fortress that is today the residence of the Russian president. The Moscow Kremlin is also one of several World Heritage Sites in the city. Both chambers of the Russian parliament, the State Duma and the Federation Council also sit in Moscow.

(Saint Petersburg, Russia)

Saint Petersburg is the second largest city in Russia, politically incorporated as a federal city. It is located on the Neva River at the head of the Gulf of Finland on the Baltic Sea. In 1914 the name of the city was changed from Saint Petersburg to Petrograd, in 1924 to Leningrad, and in 1991, back to Saint Petersburg. Saint Petersburg was founded by Tsar Peter the Great in 1703, Saint Petersburg was the imperial capital of Russia. In 1918 the central government bodies moved from Saint Petersburg then named Petrograd to Moscow. Saint Petersburg is a major European cultural center, and also an important Russian port on the Baltic Sea.

(Helsinki, Finland)

Helsinki is the capital and largest city of Finland. It is in the region of Uusimaa, located in southern Finland, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, an arm of the Baltic Sea. Helsinki is the most populous municipality and urban area in Finland. Helsinki is located some 80 km north of Tallinn, Estonia, 400 km east north east of Stockholm, Sweden, and 300 km west of Saint Petersburg, Russia. Helsinki has close historical connections with these three cities. It is the northernmost capital of an EU member state. After Copenhagen and Stockholm, Helsinki is the third largest city in the Nordic nations.

I will be updating my travel blog when we come back from the trip...
