Melaka - River Boat Cruise...

“No matter where you go, there you are…” – Buckaroo Bonzai

After a hard day’s work at the kebun we drove to Melaka town for a romantic river cruise.

The 45-minute cruise was accompanied by an entertaining oldies but I wish that they put in some recorded informative commentary as well. The RM10 ticket was a good bargain. We could see parts of historical Melaka with some buildings since the Portuguese era still stand majestically by the river. Some parts of the river banks are also lined with brightly decorated Melaka malay houses.

'As we cruised further up the river, we passed old bridges and were able to see old shop-houses that are built on the river banks. Some of these shop-houses used to have gudangs at the back of their shops but now these warehouses have been converted into chic cafés and bistros. While cruising, we could see Mat Sallehs and locals alike, drinking coffee watching us from the verandah of Harpers Café and Discovery Café - a few of the popular places for visitors to dine and drink into the night.

'I remember watching the movie ‘Entrapment’ a few years back, and this river boat ride was featured in that movie!

  3. maklang,
Nak hilang kan penat tu... Lagi pulak malam tu macam ada pesta, live show sana sini. Meriah dan berwarna warni kat tepi sungai tu.

    aNIe,
Kak nong pun orang melaka gak. Hanya baru2 ni selalu balik jenguk mak abah yang dah uzur.

Memang seronok, dan setanding dengan river cruise kat overseas tu. Tinggal orang kita kena belajar untuk tingkatkan sikit service dan quality... Cuba lah sekali...

  4. Bunga Rampai,
Open air night cruise nyaman dan romantik. Cuaca pun tak berapa panas.

Maybe kalau siang mungkin hangat dan berpeluh jugak dibuat nye. Kena suggest boat air-con with glass-top macam kat paris tu....

  7. Madam Gold,
We were on the Rhine river cruise in 2003 passing thru' Rheingau Valley where the river twists and turns past ruined castles and the Loreley rocks. Visited Riesling vineyards too....

A long cruise mcm dlm love boat tu good idea for honeymoon he he ...

    Zino,
Betul tu. Hari tu masa nak naik cruise tu kitaorang pun dah nearly nak give-up tengok system ticketing yang kelam-kabut.

They should think of ways to make it more efficient...

  11. Hazia,
So far we have only taken a full day boat cruise je. Wish I have the time for a longer cruise to nowhere.

Masa the kids were small, long time ago, ada naik Ferry Malaysia from P Klang - Singapore - Kuching - K Kinabalu then back to Kuantan. Small Boat je, so most of us mabuk laut!
