Another hill, another trail...

"Good health and good sense are two of life's greatest blessings..." - Publilius Syrus

(Trekking up Bukit Hari in the Botanical Park)

We always make a point to alternate our pace-walking venues between the Metropolitan Park and the Botanical Park, both situated in Kepong.

This morning, we had plenty of time after our early morning walk around the lake at the Botanical Park. At the end of the lake we discovered another trail uphill leading to Bukit Hari. The trail starts from the entrance of the Bamboo Garden. We hiked a distance up the hill then turned back as it was already late and our tummies were grumbling as it was time for breakfast.

For our next visit, we would like to explore this trail till the end, depending on how much time and energy we have left after our morning routine walk.

Founder's Day Dinner...

"There's nothing like 'Being Prepared' is there? For what might seem possible, even if it may not seem probable..." - Baden-Powell

(Scouting since the 70's)

Tonight we honored Baden-Powell Founder's Day by attending a dinner organised by the BP-Guild Malaysia at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian & Country Resort. The dinner was attended by members from all over Malaysia. Kelantan sent a large contingent of 26 members. Major-General Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Zin Bidin, the National Chief Scout Commissioner graced the dinner.

Robert-Baden-Powell  was the founder of the worldwide Scout Movement. He was born on 22 February 1857, more than 160 years ago. Scouts worldwide celebrate his birthday each year as Founder's Day.

We had a wonderful evening reminiscing, networking and singing with member guilds old and new.

My bad tooth - Comfortably numb...

"Some old wounds never truly heal, and bleed again at the slightest word..." - George R.R. Martin

(Still holding on strong)

Three years ago I did a root canal treatment to repair and save one of my teeth. My dentist did a good job to stop further damage to the tooth.

During breakfast this morning while eating a bowl of cereal, I chewed on one hard object and realised that it was a chip from one of my teeth. When I called my Dental Clinic for an appointment I was lucky to be asked to just walk in as there were three appointments cancellation this morning.

Because the enamel chip was small, my dentist repaired the damage, inserted a pin and filled the gap with tooth-coloured composite resin bonding. According to her, sooner or later that particular tooth may need to be removed if it is far too compromised. The dentist recommended an extraction, followed by a dental implant to replace what was lost.

I will do nothing for now. I will decide on the fate of that bad tooth on my next appointment, which is in six month's time...

Another breakfast meet...

“One should not attend even the end of the world without a good breakfast.”
― Robert A. Heinlein

(Kak Jon's chic breakfast table set-up)

After my collar bone surgery, I was under home confinement for a long period and feeling really bored to death.

Ubai cancelled her plan to visit me at my Putramas Apartment and suggested a meet up of sisters for breakfast at Kak Jon's place at Bukit Damansara. As I was still refrained from driving, dear hubby joined me for the brekfast meet.

As usual, there was a spread of delicacies from various famous Kelantan restaurants.

Legoland Waterpark on CNY

“It's so hard to forget pain, but it's even harder to remember sweetness. We have no scar to show for happiness...” - Chuck Palahniuk

(Resting my feet while the kids played)

I am supposed to be under home confinement and avoid travelling long distance.

After so many weeks of staying at home, laying flat on my back, I am beginning to feel restless and bored. So on the CNY long weekend we decided to drive leisurely to JB to visit our grandkids. Iwan and family came a day later. On second day of CNY we brought the four grandkids to a splashing fun in Legoland Waterpark.

As the weather was extremely erratic, we rented a gazebo to protect ourselves from the hot sun or the rain. The grandkids, under close supervision of their parents, enjoyed themselves soaking in the pools, or sliding down the tube slides. Later they spent time building ships with the legos or just float on the rafts on the Lazy River.

While the kids played, I rested under the gazebo and took a good afternoon nap.

Orang Asli Bkt Lagong Gotong Royong...

"When you give someone charity be thankful to them. You may be fixing their dunyia, but they are fixing your akhirah..."

(An Orang Asli teenager at her house)

The Muslimah of Masjid At-Tayyibin Taman Bidara organised a Sunday gotong royong and Charity Program at the Orang Asli settlement in Bukit Lagong, not very far from our Bidara house.

For the gotong royong, 30 Musimah gathered at Surau At-Taqwa of Bukit Lagong around 10.00 am and together with the Orang Asli Muslimah we learned to cook some of  the Orang Asli delicacies such as Ayam Buluh, Kerabu Bunga Kantan, Masak Lemak Labu and many other delicious dishes.

After we performed Zohor prayer berjemaah and had lunch, we had the opportunity to purchase durian fruits freshly collected from the nearby dusun at a reasonable price.
