(The history of Masjid Batu 8 Lekir) |
Masjid Al-Rahmaniah Mosque, Batu 8 Lekir was built as early as the establishment of the village of Lekir around 1798 at the mouth of Sungai Lekir or Parit Besar Lekir. This first mosque was called the Masjid Belukar Cabai. However, the mosque was destroyed when a great flood hit Lekir in 1926. The great flood has caused great damage to the entire foundation of the mosque. So the new Al-Rahmaniah Mosque was built on a new site. This second mosque was called Masjid Tebing Tinggi Mosque at the beginning and then was given a new name, Masjid Al-Rahmaniah.
This mosque was inaugurated by His Majesty the Sultan of Perak Raja Alang Iskandar Shah al-Kaddasullah. The renovation took place after 30 years by changing the wooden board wall to a concrete wall. Later a high minaret in the shape of a cylindrical circle was added as a landmark of the mosque. The mosque is now used as a Vocational Tahfiz known as Maahad Tahfiz al Quran Wal Qiraat ADDIN – 19 since 2018.
The history was inscribed on a Foundation Stones dated 31 August 1957.
