(Masjid Al-Khairiah Telok Mas, Melaka) |
Masjid Al-Khairiah Telok Mas originates from a surau that was built in 1820 by Datuk Panglima Daeng Salleh who holds the title of Panglima Sulong Raja. In 1840, a new mosque was built on the site of the current mosque. This mosque was founded by the Village Head, Datuk Penghulu Haji Idris and the first Imam was Haji Bia Nurudin. The mosque tower was erected far from the mosque site in 1913, under the leadership of Datuk Penghulu Daud bin Hamzah. The design of the minaret is similar to the minaret found in Tanjung Kling and Tengkera Mosques.

Several renovations were carried out in 1950’s and 1960’s. An additional space in the front was built for the convenience of the congregation. In 1989, the additional space was demolished and rebuilt by enlarging the entire space up to the fence of the mosque area but the original design of the mosque is still maintained. The three-tiered roof only has two floors left as the lower part is covered with a wall. There are only two original pillars left in the interior of the mosque and have been coated with cement.
