Perak: 4x4 trip to Lata Kekabu...

"Direction is more important than speed. We are so busy looking at our speedometers that we forget the milestone..."

(Lata Kekabu picnic area)

After visiting Lata Perahu, we decided to explore another waterfall, Lata Kekabu which is about 20 km away.

Lata Kekabu is situated in the Forest Recreational Park in Lake Chenderoh area less than 10 km from a nearby town of Lenggong, Perak. The signage of the park is clearly visible on the signboard on the main road. From the main road, there is a paved road leading direct to the spacious car park outside the entrance of the Forest Recreational Park.

Lata Kekabu is a popular destination among local and foreign nature lovers, who love to explore the pristine beauty of flora and fauna of the Dipterocarp forest. Located in the Bintang Hijau Range, it is surrounded with tropical lowland rain-forest, swirling rivers and impressive 50 meters high waterfalls. Most trees are tagged to facilitate visitors to identify the types of trees found here.

A map of the waterfall and the surrounding area is located at the entrance. From the entrance, there is a pedestrian path leading to the recreational areas. The path ends at Lata Kekabu waterfall after following a few bends of the river and crossing a suspension bridge.

This park is suitable for family picnic during weekends. Facilities such as chalets, camp site, multi-purpose hall, prayer hall and bathroom are provided for visitors who want to have a long stay or who want to carry out educational and recreational activities. The park is well maintained and clean. There is also jungle trekking route if you are adventurous.

The recreational park is open from 7.00 am to 6.00 pm. For now no admission fee is charged.
