Bukit Jawa Paleolithic Workshop, Perak

The next location visited was Bukit Jawa which is around 100,000 to 200,000 years old. This hill is an open site that reveals evidence of Paleolithic culture. Hulu Perak has rivers and lakes, as well as forests with their fauna and flora. All of them make Hulu Perak very special in prehistoric times, and this privilege exists because of the ancient Perak River and its drainage system.

Archaeological studies conducted in Hulu Perak since 1987 by the Malaysian Archaeological Research Center, USM, have revealed evidence of the importance of the ancient Perak River to the prehistoric community of Malaysia. This area has been inhabited since 100,000-200,000 years ago until now and is the oldest evidence of the country. This indicates that this area became the main choice of the early communities in their migration. The contribution of the ancient Perak River to Hulu Perak which caused it to be chosen as the country's first residential area.

Bukit Jawa is a port city of Sungai Perak River and became the focal point for ships to anchor. Apart from that, Bukit Jawa was also detected as a stone tool workshop area when the community at that time used paving stones, core stones and beating stones to make pebbles and chipping tools.
