Masjid Tok Jabbar was built by a rich man of Kg. Gajah who had a rubber plantation in the early 1900s. He built a mosque in Kg. Telok with Chinese Islamic civilization characteristics on a plot of land that he donated. When the Japanese army entered Kg. Gajah via Sungai Perak, the mosque was already there and was never damaged by cannon shots by the Japanese.

Masjid Tok Jabbar has the same shape as other old mosques in Kg. Gajah. The original five-sided wooden dome was replaced by a aluminum dome. This mosque does not have a Tower. The original red brick shingle roof has been replaced because of leakages. The original mihrab is made of wood. There are stone pillars in the prayer room. There is no calligraphy but carvings could be seen on the eaves of the mosque. The entire architecture symbolizes the era of Islamic Chinese civilization.
