Crossing Banjaran Titiwangsa...

“Keep smiling, because life is a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about.” - Marilyn Monroe

After visiting the small, quiet town of Dabong we drove on the East-West Highway connecting Jeli, Kelantan to Gerik, Perak.

As it was lunch time, we made a brief lunch stop at the Titiwangsa Rest Area. This is the only rest stop on the East-West Highway. We used to stop at Banding Resort and had our meals at one of the restaurants but the resort is now un-operational and abandoned.

There were a large crowd stopping for lunch and prayer break. The one and only restaurant was spacious and quite busy during this time of the day. For lunch there were quite a variety of food to choose from. The most popular foods are nasi lemak, nasi kerabu and nasi ayam.

After we had our lunch we spent time outside and enjoyed the fresh mountain air and a closer look at the flora and fauna of the equatorial rainforest.
