Masjid Lama Sungai Pinang in Jelutong is also known as the Masjid Maqbul Sungai Pinang. It is a Malay mosque located on the banks of Sungai Pinang opposite Jalan Jelutong. Masjid Maqbul was built in 1850 which at that time was known as Masjid Tok Guru.

This mosque was built by Acheh merchants who used the Pinang River to travel downstream to bring goods such as spices, gambir, nutmeg and various other goods from the rural area along the river. Masjid Maqbul is said to have been built using Nibong tree trunks before being upgraded to bricks building using donation from a Peranakan Jawi named Abdul Ghani who came from Madura, Indonesia.

This mosque is often visited by people from near and far who come to pray for special reasons. It is said that water from the ablution pond of the mosque is able to cure various diseases, repel sorcery and bring prosperities in businesses. The ablution pond has long been demolished to deter these superstitious activities.

During the development of Sungai Pinang new bridge project, Masjid Maqbul underwent major renovation works worth about Rm0.5 million.
