Masjid Tarik Air is situated near the famous Anba Coconut Stall. It is a small mosque along Burmah Road, at the junction with Aboo Sittee Lane. In the old days, fresh water was collected from nearby waterfalls and transported to town on foot by coolies or by bullock-carts via Jalan Burmah which is also known as ‘Water Cart Road’ in Hokkien. Masjid Tarik Air used to be the rest stop for the coolies, many of whom were Indian Muslims.

Masjid Tarik Air Mosque was built on a waqaf land of Haji Mohd Salleh Al-Ashee who is said to be from Aceh. This mosque is in the area of Kampung Tarik Air. This mosque was originally a small wooden surau that was demolished in the year 1880 before a concrete mosque was built on the same site.

Around the 1980’s Masjid Tarik Air received quite a good reception with the attendance of many worshippers to the mosque. Various events are arranged to revive this mosque including tazkirah by religious speakers, Quran study classes for adults and tadarus classes.

This mosque is still operating privately under the administration of Masjid Jamek Jalan Hatin Mosque.
