Masjid Jamek Jelutong is situated along Jalan Jelutong and is approximately 176 years old. So far there is no clear record about the history of the construction of the Masjid Jamek Jelutong, but most stories tend to say that the founder of this mosque is Nakhoda Kechil and was built between 1835 and 1845. This mosque has a tahfiz centre, which is called Mahad Tahfiz Fathur Rahman. It is located on Jalan Perak which was built in 2010 on a waqf lot of Masjid Jamek Jelutong.
