Bagan Datuk's new attractions...

“You never really learn much from hearing yourself speak.” ― George Clooney

After visiting Masjid Al-Istiqomah and Masjid Abasiah, we drove to the small town of Bagan Datuk to look for a good restaurant for lunch. We spotted Restoran Asam Pedas Claypot but it was raining very heavily so we drove to Bagan Datuk Waterfront and waited for the rain to subside.

Bagan Datuk has always been considered a cowboy town because there are only two rows of shops on the main road. The quiet town is located outside the main route. It is expected to change with the construction of a bridge from Bagan Datuk across the Perak River to Kampung Sejagop that will connect with the main route to Sitiawan and Manjung via the West Coast Expressway.

Various socio-economic development projects are being carried out to change Bagan Datuk into a well-developed district. Not far from Bagan Datuk’s Waterfront is the Masjid Tuminah Complex, a new privately funded floating mosque which is still under construction. This new landmark is expected to be completed in April 2019 but was delayed because of the pandemic.

Bagan Datuk is expected to become a public attraction for leisure and business activities.
