Masjid Jamek Tanjung Malim is located in the town of Tanjung Malim next to the Post Office.

Masjid Jamek Tanjung Malim was originally built in Kampung Kubu known as Tanjung Jambu, the initial settlement in Tanjung Malim around 1921.

To accommodate the growing number of congregations, a new mosque was erected on the existing site around 1926. The building plan was designed by the students of Sultan Idris Shah Training College. Masjid Jamek Tanjung Malim was inaugurated by the late Sultan Iskandar Shah.

An expansion of the mosque was carried out in 1960. The British architect who built this mosque is believed to have been influenced by the construction of Moorish-style mosques in India. The gold-coloured onion-shaped dome is not very large if compared to the size of its roof. Small mushroom-like domes were seen around the roof of the mosque. There are simple small towers with small dome in each corner of the roof.

There are six roman pillars to support the structure of the building. There are large windows found around the prayer hall. The mihrab area is square and the mimbar is made of wood. The mosque has a capacity of 1000 congregation.
