After visiting Masjid Yahya Ubudiah Kampung Banggol, Lenggong we drove to Masjid Ubudiah Kampung Sumpitan 12 km away. This mosque is a new mosque. When we arrived it was already time for Zohor prayers, so we only took pictures from outside the compound.

The construction work on the same site of the old mosque began in August 2008. While the construction process of the new mosque was underway, mosque activities including Friday prayers were conducted at the local religious school in Sumpitan village. After facing various challenges finally on in January 2010 the new Ubudiah Mosque was fully completed.

Masjid Ubudiah Kg. Sumpitan is a stone building with modern architecture. The mosque has genting roof with a round dome in the middle. The mosque has no tower. The prayer area is divided into two. the main prayer hall and an open-air prayer area.

Masjid Ubudiah Kampung Sumpitan is located next to a popular bikers' pit stop at Cafe Route A76 on Jalan Baling - Kuala Kangsar main road. Bikers riding to Pengkalan Hulu onwards to Thailand border will make a point to stop for light meals here.

On the way to Kuala Kangsar, we had lunch at Restoran Asiah Tepi Highway, located opposite Captain Rosli Lodge and Cafe, along the Jalan Baling - Kuala Kangsar main road. The daging gulai kawah and mushroom soup dishes were quite tasty.

(Gulai Kawah specialty)
(Simple, yet filling)
(The noon heat was unbearable)
