Masjid Sungai Nipah Baroh is also known as Masjid Abasiah, adopting the name of its founder, Tuan Hj Abbas bin Hj Alias. The mosque is located at kampung Sungai Nipah Baroh in Bagan Datuk 50 km from Teluk Intan and 5 km from the town of Bagan Datuk.

(The mosque is quiet outside prayer times)
(A new extension to the left is for the dining area)
(The original mosque is quite small)

The mosque was built by Tuan Hj Abbas bin Hj Alias in 1883 on a piece of land near the cemetery lot of Kampung Sungai Nipah Baroh. At the initial stage, the mosque building had nibong pillars, wooden flooring and walls and nipah roofing.

(A beautiful archway to the entrance)
(The dome was newly added)
(Even the gate design is beautiful)

In 1902, the mosque was rebuilt on the present site along Jalan Hutan Melintang. The mosque underwent a few more major renovations and upgrading works in 1969 and 1991 using modern building materials but still maintaining its original structure and architecture. This mosque can accommodate about 250 congregation.

(The decorative floral motif carvings along the roof)
(Large space for communal activities)

Masjid Sungai Nipah Baroh is the oldest mosque built in Bagan Datuk. This mosque is quite close to Beting Beras Basah, the coronation place of DYMM Sultan Perak.
