We reached Masjid Tok Mengkarak quite late in the afternoon. The mosque looked deserted but well maintained. The mosque must be visitor-friendly because there is a large parking space, a comfortable lounge area and gazebo. It is very suitable to be used as a stopover place for travellers travelling through the Temerloh-Triang road. The location of the mosque is very close to the Bera Waterfront, about 150 meters away. Currently the mosque is temporarily closed due to the Covid19 Pandemic.

Masjid Tok Mengkarak took the name of an Islamic scholar in the history of Pahang. Tok Mengkarak's real name is Imam Nur Al Qadim, the son of Imam Nur Al Bayan who fled from the threat of the Pagar Ruyung Sultanate. Iman Nur Al Bayan and his loyal followers migrated to Tanah Melayu to defend his teachings and to spread Islam to Tanah Melayu, especially for the rural areas of Pahang. He opened a place with the name Kampung Mengkarak, in conjunction with the name of his original birth place which is Danau Singkarak which was geographically similar to his village.

The original site of Masjid Tok Mengkarak is believed to be located next to Sungai Pahang near Kuala Sungai Mengkarak. According to folk tales there was a large rock located under the mosque. The tomb of Tok Mengkarak is located in the cemetery lot next to the existing Masjid Tok Mengkarak.
