When we reached Chembong Industrial Area, the GPS led us to Kampung Masjid Tanah and ended up in someone's compound. Unable to locate Masjid Tanah Chembong on our second attempt, we stopped to asked a resident who gave us the direction and precise location. We found the mosque with ease.

Masjid Kariah Masjid Tanah Chembong, Rembau is one of the oldest mosques built in Rembau. This mosque located in Kampung Masjid Tanah has the same mosque design as the mosque in Melaka. The 132-year-old mosque built in 1890 was founded by Tok Janggut who migrated from Taboh Naning Alor Gajah who had endowed his land of about half an acre in Kampung Masjid Tanah.

The original mosque used wood and mud-based materials. The construction of the mosque was to facilitate the community at that time to perform Jemaah prayers, given its location close to the river. To strengthen the structure of mosque are 4 main large pillars with Islamic carvings. Almost the entire architecture of this mosque uses solid stone and concrete.

The porch is rectangular in shape and has walls and windows on the left and right. It serves as a place to relax and discuss religious matters. The main prayer room is used for prayers, meetings and other religious activities. Other amenities are ablution area, washrooms, a store, cooking area and dining area. There are spacious parking areas inside and outside the compound

Due to the passage of time, this mosque was upgraded several times without changing the original building. Initially, the mosque could only accommodate about 80 congregation members and now it has reached 400 members.
