Masjid Rahmani Kg Permatang in Kuala Selangor was built in 1916, is said to be one of the oldest mosques in Kuala Selangor. This stone mosque was built on a 150 square foot plot of land, namely the waqaf land of Tuan Haji Ali, Shah Bandar Kuala Selangor to replace an old wooden mosque. The 100-year old mosque is still standing strong and in very good condition. The design was by European engineers and locals to symbolize the unification of western and eastern designs.
The initial settlement of Kampung Permatang were the residents and dignitaries of the Palace when the Sultan of Selangor, the late Sultan Salahudin, Sultan Ibrahim and Sultan Muhammad lived in Bukit Malawati. The history of the original settlement of the people of Kuala Selangor could be seen by the presence of old graves everywhere in the village, including in front and the back of the mosque. Old graves are also found under the houses of the villagers, most likely they were the graves of their ancestors.
