Masjid Sungai Sekamat was rebuilt in 2015 and opened for prayers in December of 2016. It is a new attraction of the small town of Kampung Sungai Sekamat, Kajang. The mosque is located right next to the Sekamat River which makes the mosque comfortable and cozy. It is located along the main road of Kajang, Bangi - Kuala Lumpur and easily located.

The mosque has been rebuilt on its original site to accommodate the growing needs of the community as the old mosque is quite small. The 51-year old Sungai Sekamat Mosque was demolished to make way for the construction of the new mosque that is more spacious. The old mosque building was built on July 1964 was too old with damaged to the roof and drainage and no longer suitable to accommodate the growing number of congregations.

The original land of this mosque was a waqaf land. The construction of the mosque was inspired by modern mosques in major West Asian cities such as Abu Dhabi while its simple interior design gets a touch of Ottoman architecture featuring chandeliers like those found in mosques in Turkey.

The mosque is complete with amenities including pathway for disabled and air conditioning. The landscaping of the mosque is also interesting with Belinjau trees planted along the river border and dates trees in the mosque compound.
