Tanjung Sepat Quaint Town...

“The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty...” - Winston Churchill

(Fishing boats at the Muara)

Tanjung Sepat is a small, coastal town in Kuala Langat located approximately 95 km south of downtown Kuala Lumpur. Tanjung Sepat is a pleasant, small seaside town with a few attractions and places to eat. The population in town is predominantly Chinese and many of the houses are wooden homes with tin roofs arranged in a grid street pattern.

(Tanjung Sepat Fishing Village)

Located in between the two most famous resorts along the Kuala Langat coastline, Sepang Gold Coast and Gold Coast Morib, visitors often make a detour here to visit the serene fishing village especially on weekends to indulge in its many seafood culinary delights and traditional coffee and bun.

So far we have heard all sorts of myths on how Tanjung Sepat gets its name. Among others, the name Tanjung Sepat was taken in conjunction with a pokok tanjung with a pond full of sepat fish. Another story is the name came about from the word Tanjung, meaning cape in English, and Sepat, a type of fresh water fish. The authenticity of the stories has not been confirmed.

Fishing was once the main occupation in Tanjung Sepat. It has declined in importance due to pollution but there are still a number of picturesque fishing boats moored in the river.
