Other Attractions in Kuala Selangor...

"If life were predictable it would cease to be life, and be without flavor..." -Eleanor Roosevelt

(A welcome sign)

Kuala Selangor is a small secluded historic town in Kuala Selangor District. The name Kuala Selangor means Estuary of Selangor River. After visiting Bukit Melawati, we drove around town and took some pictures of some of the attractions in town.

1. Dataran Malawati

The Kuala Selangor Regional Council has taken several initiatives to raise the level of Kuala Selangor's old town to improve the quality of public facilities and infrastructure as a tourist attraction. The transformation began with the development of the Dataran Malawati which was previously known as the Padang Merdeka.

2. 0 km Kuala Selangor Pit Stop

A newly opened 24-hour café used as a pit stop especially for bikers. The cafe serves as souvenir shop and Information Center for interesting and historical places in Kuala Selangor.

3. A Wishing Tree

There is a lone wishing tree with red ribbons entangled at its branches. A red ribbon is knotted with coins and one can write their wishes on the red ribbon and throw it up he tree branches. It is said that the higher the ribbon with the coin dangled on the tree, the higher chance the wishes made will come true.

4. Murals on the wall

There are two large mural artworks painted on the wall of the shop buildings depicting the attractions at Bukit Malawati and around Kuala Selangor old town.

5. A tour to Sky Mirror

Sky Mirror is the newest attraction in Kuala Selangor. Sky Mirror is also known as Salar De Uyuni Malaysia and is the newest attraction in Kuala Selangor. This phenomenon of Salar de Uyuni occurs 6 days each month following the Chinese lunar calendar. The time for this low tide is between 10.30 - 11.00 am. From the jetty at Kuala Selangor old town you can take a boat ride of approximately 30 minutes to the mass of land at the middle of the sea for the magical mirror photography.

6. Medan Perwira

In the middle of a roundabout at the start of Jalan Keramat Tanjong is a small obelisk erected by the British to honor allied and local soldiers who died during the two World Wars. The original bronze plaques listing the names of the fallen have been removed, probably by scrap metal thieves, and replaced by two wooden boards.
